Historical Perspective

Genius or dumb@$$?

Going through this off-season for the Braves:

Frustrating is the only way to describe it. The Braves couldn’t get Jake Peavy, lost out on AJ Burnett, were swindled by Rafael Furcal, and lost John Smoltz with Tom Glavine possibly following suit. Wren has been hammered, and even Chipper Jones is a little upset. Things haven’t gone well until recently. The additions of Kenshin Kawakami and Derek Lowe give the Braves a much more formidable and deep rotation. Still, the pain of all those losses will cloud the optimism and excitement over the recent acquisitions.

In 10 years:

No one remembers, okay maybe a few do, all the losses the Braves suffered this particular off-season. They just remember the results, negative or positive.

In 20 years:
No one remembers anything. Remembering it is left up to people like me with no life.

Bottom line — don’t kick and scream about additions until after because no one can say with any certainty what’s going to happen.
